Welcome to the first edition of Facts and Findings with Dr. Plant, where we will post informative shorts created by Zija's Vice President of Research and Development, Dr. Joshua Plant.
The state of New York is claiming that many big retailers are selling bogus supplements. Many of the supplements sold from these retailers claim to have a specific herb (e.g. ginseng), but when tested found none of the herb present. Additionally, the products were often filled with rice flower or other common fillers. Unfortunately, this problem is wide spread in the supplement industry. Nonetheless, there are truly independent 3rd party organizations that vet your manufacturing to ensure the highest quality standards are met, including meeting the claims that you have on your label.
Zija International has gone above industry norms to safeguard its manufacturing and product integrity by receiving the independent 3rd party certification of the NSF.
NSF certified facilities voluntarily receive audits that monitor a plethora of processes to ensure that which is being claimed on the packaging is being met. Some of these processes include: FTIR, HPLC, ICPMS, GCMS or LCMS. All of these highly sensitive instruments are able to quantify and measure the integrity of the product based upon that which is claimed on the label.
Additionally, other steps such as microbiological, pesticide and heavy metal tests are done to ensure not only that we put in our products that which we are claiming, but also that proper sterility and contamination benchmarks are also met.
Are the supplements you purchase manufactured in an independently vetted environment?
