MORINGA MESSAGE: FIRST INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MORINGA IN MANILA

Dr. Monica Marcu is noted worldwide for her expertise on Moringa, as she has decades of experience in studying a variety of plants. Her study and research of Moringa is incorporated in her book Miracle Tree, a long-time favorite of Zija Independent Distributors. As a member of the Zija Product Advisory Council, she will be sharing her expertise and findings on Moringa. Below she shares her experience at the First International Symposium on Moringa in Manila, Philippines.
I recently had the pleasure to attend the First International Symposium on Moringa, and what a meeting it was! “Moringa: A Decade of Advances in Research and Development” was held in Manila, Philippines, from November 19-22, 2015. Researchers, businesses and industry groups, farmers, consumers and other interested Moringa lovers from 49 countries were registered for this event. The main goals of this meeting were to bring together almost 300 scientists from the international community for a four-day event, and have them share new data and their knowledge and wisdom on Moringa. Various topics of great interest were covered at the meeting, which was indeed very well organized and a most pleasant event - definitely one of the best scientific meetings I have ever attended. Over 130 papers were presented in three concurrent technical sessions. The program included invited speakers, poster sessions and presentations, interactive discussions, and a field trip to a local Moringa farm. I had the opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones, all of us driven by the same passion for the wonderful tree that blesses so many lives. The symposium encouraged education on Moringa (still lagging behind in all countries), sustainable production improvement, market access, consumption for nutritional and health value, industry profitability and others.
Some of the main topics covered were: botany and germplasm, ethnobotany, harvesting, nutrition and health, medicinal properties including clinical studies on Moringa, uses in livestock and aquaculture feed industry, Moringa as an alternative energy source (biofuel), water treatment and clarification, Moringa in the cosmetics industry, in food security and poverty alleviation, in climate change, organic Moringa production, etc.
The successful symposium was organized and supported by organizations such as the International Society for Horticultural Science, the Asian Vegetable Center, Central Philippine University and Moringaling Philippines Foundation Inc. Some of the international pioneers and champions on Moringa education and research were also recognized at the meeting: Drs. Farooq Anwar, Armelle de Saint Sauveur, Andreas Ebert, Nikolaus Foidl, and Manuel Palada, among them. I was also honored to receive this recognition as one of the 12 Moringa champions around the world. But my greatest joy was to be able to discuss and shake hands with these wonderful people, to learn from them and share my experience on the miracle tree.
From the news presented at the symposium I would share with you a few:
  • Data from the World Vegetable Center’s Nutrition Lab shows that Moringa, a nutrient dense plant, exceeds the micronutrient content of tomato by a factor of 9 to 38! A number of important nutrients such as beta-carotene, vitamin C, iron, folates and others are found in Moringa in significantly larger amounts compared to the widespread and beloved tomato.
  • Around the world, more and more this highly nutritious tree is used in various foods to fortify them: Moringa is now added to pasta, breads, juices, milk and teas. I had the wonderful surprise to taste Moringa chocolate, and I can tell you it was delicious! Deliciously simple and organic - only three main ingredients: Moringa leaf powder, coco butter and cane sugar.
Only in the Philippines, more than 20 different companies use Moringa for a variety of products, from cosmetics to beverages and farm supplies. Overall, the opportunities of Moringa-based products around the world seem very promising. If only the production and supply of Moringa could keep pace with the demand!

FACTS & FINDINGS WITH DR. PLANT: EPHEDRA NEVADENSIS BY DR. JOSHUA PLANT

Dr. Plant helps us better understand Ephedra nevadensis: What is it, and is it okay to consume?
When we hear Ephedra we think back to about 15 years ago when the media and government spoke about its dangers. I want to explain a little bit about Ephedra nevadensis and how this is completely different than the Ephedra that was banned ~15 years ago.
When news agencies spoke about Ephedra 15 years ago, they were referring to a compound called "Ephedra Alkaloids" (see picture). That compound is found in a botanical called Ma Huang. Thus the compound Ephedra was mentioned because it was the active ingredient, but the actual name of the botanical it is found in is called Ma Huang.
Ephedra nevadensis on the other hand is a botanical name, and isn't referring to the compounds. In fact, numerous studies have shown that Ephedra nevadensis does not contain any Ephedra Alkaloids, and is therefore both safe and legal to sell. It just happens to have the unfortunate circumstance of having a name similar to that which was found to be a buzz word 15 years ago. It is like the unfortunate circumstance of people who have the name Katrina or Andrew, and then a hurricane is given the same name.
In short, Ephedra nevadensis is safe and legal to consume. It in no way contains Ephedra alkaloids, the compound found in the botanical Ma Huang.
A little highlight on the botanical: It grows in the deserts of the western U.S., and has been consumed for hundreds/thousands of years to help remove the buildup of mucus in our airways. Thus by supplementing with Ephedra nevadensis individuals may often feel an increase of energy because they are more effectively able to get the oxygen their body needs by clearing the congestion/pollution that has built up in their airway, which limits oxygen intake. You can find Ephedra nevadensis in products like Zija's XM+ Energy Mix and XM3 Energy Drink.

Part 3 of 3 on the Weight Management System: Detoxification by DR. JOSHUA PLANT

The first two parts of this series focused on nutrition and suppression to limit the conversion of calories into fat. Today's section focuses on helping to convert the fat you already have, back into usable calories by detoxifying your body.

Lipolysis is the process of converting fat into usable macromolecules, which enter into the bloodstream, and then eventually absorbed into cells. Lipolysis, though great in converting fat into usable energy, is also a waste generating process. In fact, as we convert fat into usable macromolecules, numerous waste products are produced; this ranges from uric acid to carbon dioxide.

When our body needs energy, it wants to convert our stored fat into usable calories. However, if our body is filled with toxins it will safeguard itself by not adding to the toxin pool, or in other words our body won't poison itself by burning fat. Therefore, the rate of fat metabolization is dependent upon the rate we detoxify our waste.

In summary, the weight management system allows individuals to first "grease" the energy pathway through nutrition; second, limit the abundance of unused calories through suppression; and finally, accelerate the rate of lipolysis through detoxification.

Part 2 of 3 on Weight Management: Suppression by DR. JOSHUA PLANT

Yesterday, I posted on the first pathway that needs to be addressed to promote a healthy weight, namely, Nutrition. Today, I am posting on the second pathway, Suppression.

As mentioned yesterday, calories have one of two roads to travel. Calories can either be converted into energy (nutrient dependent pathway), or they can be converted into fat (nutrient independent pathway). When nutrition is abundant, calories are more likely to go to down the energy pathway.

However, even though we may have an abundance of nutrition in our diet, if we are eating too many calories, those excess calories will be converted into fat. This brings me to the second part of this series...Suppression of caloric intake.

An effective weight management system needs to incorporate a regimen that promotes moderate caloric intake. In fact, scientist have shown that approximately every 3,500 excess calories we consume equates to a single pound of fat.

How do we suppress our caloric intake?

1) Choose foods that have a long satiating ability. Foods that are enriched in protein and fiber usually fall into this category.

2) Avoid simple carbohydrates. When our blood sugar levels rise, our body responds with an insulin release. Insulin is the key that opens the door to the fat cells, allowing the excess sugar to enter into the fat cell and be converted into fat. Therefore, when consuming your calories make sure they are limited in simple carbohydrates, which will stimulate an insulin response.

3) Exercise. Exercise has been shown to not only promote caloric burning, but also diminish the desire for caloric intake.

4) Eat a healthy breakfast. Studies have shown that when individuals have a healthy breakfast they consume less calories throughout the day compared to individuals who skipped their breakfast.

5) Supplement with appetite suppressing herbs and botanicals. With so many food companies engineering their advertisements and food to make you want to eat, it is impossible to do it alone. Supplement with certain botanicals and essential oils, such as: Green tea, Moringa, grapefruit essential oil, and several others that help satiate the appetite.

In summary, look to supplement your body with nutrition, but also suppress your desire for caloric intake, because nutrition without suppression usually won't promote the results of nutrition and suppression together.

MORINGA FROM ZIJA ROC BONUS!

Zija International ROC Bonus

This version is for all countries except Norway and South Korea
Beginning in Period 83, Cycle 1 (December 13, 2014), we’ve created a promotion that includes exciting enhancements to the Zija Compensation Plan; the goal is to help you maximize your earnings and reach more individuals who are interested in Zija’s products, business opportunity, or both!
RETAIL CUSTOMERS (RCs)
We’re enhancing Retail Customers (hereafter referred to as RCs or RC), those who love Zija Core Nutritionals, Améo Essential Oils, and Ripstix Supplements products and simply want to order them as product users.
REPEAT ORDER CUSTOMERS (ROCs)
Introducing Repeat Order Customers (hereafter referred to as ROCs or ROC), a new way for individuals to more easily order and get the most out of Zija’s amazing Core Nutritionals, Améo Essential Oils, and Ripstix Supplements products time and time again! A ROC is a Retail Customer that has an AutoShip (Repeat Order) setup.
RC & ROC HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Sponsor of RCs and ROCs can earn FSC on the first order and a 15% or 25% ROC Bonus on subsequent orders. (See below for definition of ROC Bonus)
  • RCs and ROCs are not placed in their Sponsor’s Downline, but rather hover around their Sponsor.
  • RCs pay the retail price for product orders, whereas ROCs—because they have an AutoShip setup—pay the wholesale price for product orders. An Autoship template must be present on your account.
  • RCs and ROCs cannot enroll others, have a Downline, or earn commissions and bonuses. RCs and ROCs can, however, earn Zija Reward Program points according to the rules of the Zija Rewards Program.
  • The Sponsor of a RC can earn the difference between the wholesale price and the retail price on purchases made by their RC.
  • The previous Period’s total Volume (Customer Activity Volume or CAV) of purchases made by RCs and ROCs that hover around their Sponsor is used to determine the amount of the ROC Bonus that the Sponsor will be paid in the current Period.
  • The PV/TV of RCs and ROCs counts on the Sponsor’s Lesser Leg for the purposes of Pay Rank. PV/TV also rolls Upline for the purposes of Pay Rank.
  • 50% of the Volume of repeat and/or subsequent purchases by RCs and ROCs rolls Upline for the purposes of Team Commissions.
  • First orders placed by RCs and ROCs qualify for paying out Fast Start Commissions (FSC) according to the complete FSC rules and details.
DISTRIBUTOR/WHOLESALE MEMBER
If a RC, ROC, or Preferred Customer wishes to become a Distributor/Wholesale Member, he/she must pay the Wholesale Membership Fee of $20USD unless the enrollment kit purchased includes or waives the enrollment fee. His/her enrollment date will then be changed to the upgrade date and he/she will be treated as a new Enrollee. He/she will then have the option to enter the Holding Tank and the Sponsor must then log into the Back Office and place him/her in a Downline spot.* A FSC will be paid on the first order with volume after becoming a Wholesale Member.
A RC, Preferred Customer, or Wholesale Member in the Downline can become a RC or ROC that hovers around his/her Sponsor by terminating his/her account and re-enrolling as a RC or ROC. In such cases, all rights to a previous position or to Personal Enrollee’s will be given up. The re-enrollment must also remain with their existing Sponsor.
In order for anyone to become a Distributor, he/she must accept and abide by Zija’s Policies and Procedures. After becoming a Distributor, the individual can earn commissions, bonuses, and enroll other members.
*The Sponsor may also contact customer service and place their customer manually.
PREFERRED CUSTOMER
Preferred Customers were previously grandfathered, but this option is no longer available for new Enrollees. A Preferred Customer is an old Retail Customer with an AutoShip. Preferred Customers pay the wholesale price for products if they have an AutoShip template set up that meets the minimum country PV requirements.
Preferred Customers cannot enroll other members, earn commissions and bonuses, etc.; they can, however, earn Zija Rewards Program points.
Zija pays the Sponsor of a Preferred Customer 25% of the PV/TV of the Preferred Customer’s order(s).
Note: Zija takes a matching 25% of the PV/TV out before the remaining Volume (50%) rolls Upline for the purposes of paying Team Commissions, but remaining Volume skips the Sponsor and continues rolling Upline for Team Commissions.
EXISTING RETAIL CUSTOMER (IN THE DOWNLINE)
If an existing Retail Customer is already placed in the Sponsor’s Downline rather than hovering around the Sponsor, the Sponsor will be paid the difference between the wholesale price and the retail price of the Retail Customer’s purchases. All of the PV/TV also rolls Upline for the purposes of Pay Rank and Team Commissions.
Note: 50% of the Volume rolls Upline for the purposes of paying Team Commissions, but remaining Volume skips the Sponsor and continues rolling Upline for Team Commissions.
CUSTOMER ACTIVITY VOLUME (CAV)
Customer Activity Volume (CAV) is defined as the total PV/TV of the purchases made by RCs and ROCs—both old and new—if they hover around their Sponsor and are not in their Sponsor’s Downline.
ROC BONUS
The ROC Bonus is a 15% or 25% paid bonus—based on your CAV the previous Period—paid on RC and ROC purchases in the current Period:
  • CAV of 599 or less in the previous Period qualifies for a 15% ROC Bonus
  • CAV of 600 or more in the previous Period qualifies for a 25% ROC Bonus
EXAMPLE 1: If a Sponsor had CAV of 500 last Period, he or she would be paid 15% of the PV/TV of all of his/her RCs and ROCs each Cycle this Period as RC and ROC purchases occur.
EXAMPLE 2: If a Sponsor had CAV of 750 last Period, he or she would be paid 25% of the PV/TV of all of his/her RCs and ROCs each Cycle this Period as RC and ROC purchases occur.
If you are new this Period and a previous Period CAV has not been established, you will earn a 15% ROC Bonus this Period.
Note: 50% of the Volume rolls Upline for the purposes of paying Team Commissions. The ROC Bonus will be paid out at the end of the Period.
